Cliff Palace Tour

The Cliff Palace is the most well known of all the ruins at Mesa Verde National Park. This is most likely due to the size of the ruin, which contains over 150 identified rooms and 23 kivas. In spite of being the largest and most well know local ruin, it is believed by archeologists that the site developed slowly, with additional rooms only being constructed as considered necessary. Obtaining accurate information regarding this site is difficult due to the extensive vandalism during the 1800’s.

There is a ranger guided tour of the Cliff Palace every 30 minutes. Tickets cost $3 per person and must be purchased at the visitor center. The tour takes just about an hour and involves a great deal of walking. Make sure to bring adaquate water and drink regularly.
